NEW BANDS ADDED!!!
ANDY THOMAS’ DUST HEART
From tragedy comes triumph as we welcome our friends Andy Thomas’ Dust Heart back from Colorado into the heart of the deepest, darkest Scottish winter. Touring with Billy Liar, it is our pleasure to welcome them back.
Scotland’s finest angry young guitar-slinger turned introspective literary punk rock poet returns from another years traversing the globe having completed the recording of his debut full-length. Guaranteed sing-a-longs.
CORAL SPRINGS (NL)
First time in Dundee for these super melodic skate / pop-punkers from The Netherlands on Umlaut Records. One of the most uplifting and fun melodic punk bands we’ve seen this year, we’re stoked to host their first Scottish visit.
Edinburgh hardcore stalwarts come to the end of their well-traveled road by finally bringing their decimating straight-up nae messin’ hardcore punk mosh madness to Book Yer Ane Fest. Be there for the ruckus, yo!
GOOD FRIEND (NI)
Returning from the League of Nations Tour in the USA with Red Scare Industries label mates Make War, we are delighted to welcome these lion-hearted Irish punk rock’n’rollers back to Dundee for their first BYAF.
GOODBYE BLUE MONDAY
The Cowpunk Family’s newest indoctrinates bring their manic melodic punk rock bangers to BYAF for the first time after a year spent in punk apprenticeship on the back of their incredible “The Sickness, The Shame” EP. So stoked!
Scotland’s premier unstoppable high-energy American-fronted ska-punk rock’n’roll party machine smashes its way back into BYAF with all guns and brass blaring, as seen on tour everywhere always. Your feet are made for dancing.
LOADED 45 (USA)
Colorado cowpunk punk’n’roll soul brothers return to Scotland for the first time since their 2013 UK tour with Uniforms to join us in Dundee for BYAF. Few bonds are forged like those spent locked up in a van together!
LOVERS TURNS TO MONSTERS
Adorable lo-fi acoustic indie existentialism from one of the most productive and creative minds in Scottish DIY. Kyle has spent the last decade releasing countless singles, albums and EPs honouring the true spirit of indie rock’n’roll. http://loversturntomonsters.bandcamp.com/
THE KIMBERLY STEAKS
The pride of the Scottish west coast return east to bring their razor-sharp lightening-quick punk rock zingers back to BYAF. Odds on hearing the “Big In Dundee” EP in full are slim but we’ll likely get 20 songs in 25 minutes, yass! http://thekimberlysteaks.bandcamp.com/
Scotland’s dark princes of melodic pop-punk return to BYAF for the annual rammy after another year of adventures across the USA, Europe and UK on the back of “The 12 Habits of Highly Defective People” masterpiece on Asian Man Records.
ON A HIDING TO NOTHING (ENG)
Teeth-rattlingly rapid melodic skate punks from London Town making the trip to the bleak north with their Umlaut Records label mates Coral Springs for the very first time. Fast, shouty, melodic, tech; like yer granny used to make!
QUESTION THE MARK (WAL)
The Welsh branch of the Cowpunk Family make the pilgrimage north with the Team Beard Records crew to bring us their gravel-thick slabs of nihilistic anthemic gruff pyrotechnic org-core punk jamz. No sleeves, no mercy!
RIDE THE TIDES
Arbroath headbangers make their first appearance at BYAF after putting in a solid year of graft playing shows all over Scotland and self-releasing their riff-tastic “Bombarded By Images” EP. Very pleased to have them aboard!
SICK OF TALK
Full-boar blown-out blasted hardcore punk rock’n’roll chaos from the dirtiest players in the west coast hardcore game making their first trip east to bring us fleas, filth, fury, horror and hardcoah. Grab your helmet and tinfoil hat.
Soaring post-hardcore/emo rockers from the west coast’s finest ecossemo proponents coming out of hibernation in preparation for the release of their debut LP through Scottish DIY stalwart Struggletown Records. Vital stuff!
THE SMUDJAS (ITA)
Frantic emotional screamo/punk rock three piece from Milan, Italy bring their intense and cathartic jamz to Scotland for the first time on the Friday night of BYAF. One of the raddest live bands in EU DIY, this will be an absolute treat!
The east coast’s most monolithic exponents of emotionally brutal ecossemo come to BYAF armed with their first LP’s worth of material and collective fire in bellies. Currently smashing it, don’t miss these home-team troops destroy.
THROWING STUFF (ENG)
Adopted northerners originally from London Town last seen in Dundee supporting The Bennies return having dropped one of the most radical hardcore punk records of the year in “Fit, Fine and Well” on TNS Records.
TIM LOUD (ENG)
Twelve-string wielding anarcho-country folk-punk journeyman returns to Dundee having spent the last two years living and touring throughout Europe from the back of his motor. Truly one of the finest musicians in the game.
TRAGICAL HISTORY TOUR (Full Band)
After an incredibly busy year of touring that was seen the release of a single, an EP and the completion of the “Aphorisms” LP (soon!), THT will perform as a full band for the first time in a decade. Pop-up shows not unlikely!
TRIVIAL DISPUTE (ENG)
Full-blast shouty positive philosophical melodic punk rock from Birmingham featuring veterans of the UK DIY scene and ex-members of Shermer/Guerrilla Monsoon out on the road with fellow grizzled warriors Question The Mark.
Relentless oppressive pounding dance-y math-rock/hardcore mayhem masquerading as a physics lecture that will likely end in a writhing mess of limbs, noise and feedback. An absolute diamond finds from a Dundee basement.
X-RAY CAT TRIO (ENG)
Peripatetic proponents of the primal swampy psychobilly boogie, X-Ray Cat Trio return to Dundee for the first time in many moons to howl in the northern winds with their irresistible swagger and blues-infused cowpunk bangers.
Plus more to come!
